Our History: Textile Armor by Ultra Shield!

It’s hard to know where you are going if you don’t know or understand where you have been. At Textile Armor we value our heritage and are incredibly proud of it! Textile Armor’s parent company is Ultra Shield which was established in March of 1987. When Ultra Shield first started, it was the 39th competitor in the field of fabric protection. Now in 2010, Ultra Shield is thrilled to be the fourth largest company by sales quantity in the United States.

Ultra Shield prides itself on maintaining its quality throughout all of its products. Therefore it manufactures all of its products at the same plant which allows for better quality control. Ultra Shield is constantly striving to stay on the cutting edge of the fabric protection industry, because of this Ultra Shield has invested in market research teams to help discover ways to better their product line. In October of 1991, Ultra Shield became the first fabric protection company to design and develop a water based stain repellent. Ultra Shield is very proud of their success but is continually looking for way to improve upon the success that they have built.

When Textile Armor was first looking to partner with a reputable fabric protection company, there were several things that were of the upmost importance when considering a partnership:

Number one: it was essential to Textile Armor that we partner with a company that had a long history of fabric protection and was willing to stand by their product.

Number two: It was crucial that Textile Armor partner with a company that was constantly striving to improve upon their products and stay on the cutting edge of the fabric protection industry.

Number three: It was vital that Textile Armor partner with a company that had integrity and a willingness to do whatever it takes to please a client.

With Ultra Shield, we found all these qualities and many more. In 2010 we were delighted to announce our partnership with them and look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship for years to come.

There are all the accidents during the day, the running to the bathroom and then of course, the middle of the night wet bed sheets. That is where Textile Armor can help! Nothing is more exasperating than 1.) Having to try to not show your frustration to your child (who is trying their very best) 2.) Protect Your Wood for the Holidays!

As we get closer to the holidays, it seemed wise to illuminate a few products by Textile Armor that may help put your mind at ease. The holidays are a wonderful time where we can share quality time with our family, but it can also be stressful. And one of the things that stresses a lot of people out is wondering what kind of toll their house and furniture will take after serving as a landing zone for so many people. In our last blog, we talked about Textile Armor’s leather protection line and how it is able to revitalize old and dried out leather. In this blog, we are going to talk about wood protection!
When having multiple people over for the holidays, individuals are prone to setting their drinks and or plates just about anywhere! Normally this would not be a problem, but if your wood has not been properly protected, the simple act of setting a briefcase or a plate of food on the coffee table can cause permanent scratching. Because of this, Textile Armor has developed a wood protection system that is called “Scratch Guard”. This creates an invisible barrier between your wood and whatever would like to come in contact with it to scratch it! This is an ideal product for anyone who has children, pets or who entertains!
Another product that is very unique to Textile Armor is “Dust Off”, this product actually repels dust! Can you imagine if you didn’t have to dust all the time and if a product actually did the hard work for you??? As wood ages, it loses its natural moisture. For that reason, it is essential to add that moisture back into your furniture. Textile Armor also has a “Cream Polish” that will revitalize and restore your wood back to its original luster and sheen! Don’t let the holidays slide by without protecting your furniture. You have already invested in your furniture, now its time to protect it!

Breathe New Life Into Your Leather

Do you have a piece of leather furniture that you only wished that you had taken a few minutes each week to condition? Do you think that your piece of leather furniture is past the point of no return? The answer: Nope!!

Sometimes all leather needs is a little bit of cleaning and condition in order for it to have a new life and return to its original luster. Unlike other furniture coverings, leather will dry out and crack if it is not properly conditioned. However, not all leather protection products are created equal. Some are cheaper imitations and may permanently stain your leather furniture and may even deplete it of moisture.

Textile Armor has developed a leather protection line that will immediately restore the leather to its natural beauty and luster. Textile Armor’s leather protection line is not only environmentally friendly but it is also safe for children and animals.

Textile Armor’s Leather Cleaner: This leather cleaner will give your leather the deep scrubbing that it needs! It will remove all stains from the top layer of leather all while making the leather more resistant to staining and collecting other forms of dust and dirt.

Textile Armor’s Leather Conditioner: This leather conditioner will replace the moisture that is lacking in your leather. In addition, this leather conditioner will also help prevent any cracking or aging for your leather!

Leather is an expensive investment; protect yours with Textile Armor’s Leather Protection Line. For more information, check out: http://textilearmor.com/leather_protection.htm

Enjoy the Holidays with No Permanent Damage!

The holidays are a stressful but enjoyable time for most families. Sure there is a lot of shuffling between houses, lots of food and presents to buy, but over all it is a wonderful time of year that most people and families look forward to.

However, if you are hosting a get together this Christmas or Thanksgiving, you may already be wondering how to keep the children from smearing the turkey grease into your tan cloth couch, or how to keep Uncle Fred from spilling his glass of red wine on your beautiful love seat… These are the types of things that can cause extra stress around the holidays. It is difficult to balance the idea of being a gracious host and wanting to open up your home to your friends and family while struggling with the idea of not wanting your furniture destroyed in the process. If this is something that has concerned you, you may have attempted to find the solution for this problem online-only to come up empty.

According to some online searches, it seems that consumers have two options for long lasting protection for their furniture. They can either:

a.)    Cover their furniture with a thin layer of plastic (this was a very popular thing to do in the 70’s)
b.)    Consumers can opt to slip cover their beautiful furniture, virtually obstructing it while protecting it.

I was shocked at how few options there were. There are several other furniture protection products that do not require the use of slip covers or plastic, but most of these require multiple and repeated applications. Not only is this a hassle, but it is also a drain on your check book.

But as always, with every negative, there is a positive element. Textile Armor is now offering a new service that will allow their clients to protect their existing furniture from virtually anything that the holidays (or your children) can throw at it. Their furniture protection line only requires a one time application and will last for the lifetime of the piece of furniture. Originally this service was only offered to brand new furniture and mostly to designers, but not it is available to anyone who has a piece of furniture that they would like to protect. If you would like more information about how to protect your furniture, check out the Textile Armor website at http://textilearmor.com/index.htm

We all know about its amazing ability to repel water and stains as well as prevent wear and tear on fabric. Well, what if you could apply the same high quality line of protection to your existing furniture with one application? As opposed to Scotch Guard which requires multiple applications, Textile Armor's furniture protection line requires just one application for the life of the fabric!

Textile Armor is now offering a service for clients that want to protect their existing furniture! This previously exclusive service was only available to designers and brand new furniture, but now with the state of the art fabric protection that Textile Armor offers; you can protect and preserve your furniture until you are ready to redecorate!

There are several advantages to protecting your existing furniture, the first is fairly obvious, the furniture is protected and will be more aesthetically pleasing for years to come. Another advantage is that because of the high quality fabric protection, it will “buy” you extra time while you save for your dream furniture. In addition, you will not have to worry about the condition of your furniture a couple years down the road. The fabric protection line of Textile Armor requires one application and it will continue to maintain the integrity and beauty of the original condition of the furniture when it was applied! Make it Last, Tips for Maintaining Your Wood Furniture

Many of us have a piece of furniture made from wood that we love and cherish; it doesn’t matter if it is an antique passed down from generation to generation or if it was a find on an afternoon of garage sale shopping. The trick, is being able to make your wood last, and being able to restore it to its natural luster and glow. The best part is that once you find a quality wood polishing product, it can be very simple to maintain the beauty of your piece of wooden furniture. If you are in the market for a fantastic wood polishing cream check out Textile Armor’s Line of Wood Protection, they also have a great line of protects that help prevent scratching (http://textilearmor.com/wood_care.htm).

It is fairly safe to say that regardless of how careful you are; eventually you will have to deal with some type of stain on your wooden furniture. Wood is an absorbent material therefore things like red wine will soak up fairly easily and stain your wood.

Here we will discuss some tricks to keeping your wood beautiful and well maintained so that you can enjoy it for years to come!

-Water Marks: Uh-oh, someone has just put a water ring on your lovely piece of wood furniture! Don’t worry, most of the time it is the wax and not the wood that is damaged. To fix, put a clean cloth on top of stain and place an iron on a low setting, keep checking until the ring is gone.

-White Marks: If you have white marks on your wooden furniture, make a mixture of cigarette ash and lemon juice; take a clean cloth and gentle rub into the white mark!

-Paint Marks: Try to remove with water, if this doesn’t work use a small putty knife and gently scrape off the paint.

Dust Mites-Are They Really That Bad??

In a recent study, it was found that 54.3% of American tested positive for one or more allergen. With 30 million Americans suffering from asthma, allergies is quickly becoming an issue that most households have to deal with. While there are many things that can be attributed to one’s asthma, we are going to focus on what is in every household, and in every bed. Dust Mites.

Dust Mites feed on human skin flakes and are the most common cause of asthma. And they live in your bed. The average dust mite lives for 19 days and can virtually survive in all climates-no one is safe. Dust Mite’s fecal matter has proven to be particularly dangerous due to the enzymes that help with their digestion; their fecal matter is what leads to red and itchy eyes, sinus and breathing problems.

So you might be asking yourself, how do I get rid of these guys! These little buggars are incredibly difficult to get rid of! Many people believe that simply by washing their sheets with soap and bleach will kill Dust Mites-this is not true. These bugs are virtually undetectable to the eye and can not be killed unless you either heat your mattress to 140 degrees or freeze it entirely. Both of these last options are not really options at all for most of us.

But here is something very simple that you CAN do! It is cheap, easy and it will protect your children and family! Mattress Encasements! Mattress Encasements are the perfect solution to Dust Mites because they are air tight, therefore by sealing off the Dust Mites, they will die. When it comes time to clean your mattress, you can just shake them out and re-seal it! This is widely known as the safest and most effective way to handle Dust Mites. Textile Armor has a complete line of state of the art mattress encasements that are designed to protect you against the harmful bacteria and allergies that these irritating Dust Mites can introduce to your family, check out their website at for more information on how you can put up a barrier between yourself and these bugs!

Who do you share a bed with????

For most of us that answer is simple… We sleep by ourselves or with our spouse, boyfriend or girlfriend… What if I told you that you were wrong…. Dead wrong… You could potentially be sharing your sleeping space with hundreds of very tiny creatures…. Creatures that crawl all over and carry bacteria, germs and can carry disease…

It has been found that bed bugs carry over 28 different types of disease pathogens. These pathogens are mostly limited to being irritating to the skin thus resulting in itching and inflammation around the area of the bite. For images of what bed bug bites look like check this out! http://bedbugcentral.com/bedbugs101/topic.cfm/disease-bite-symptoms

But what can you do to protect yourself???

The answer is simple, mattress encasements.
  • Mattress encasements can be used to as a proactive measure to prevent bed bug infestation
  • Mattress encasement can protect the mattress and serve as a protective barrier and prevent the bed bugs from getting into the mattress and springs
  • Mattress encasements are an excellent way to protect yourself against previously used mattresses
  • Mattress encasements can help control an area that is already invested with bed bugs
If bed bugs are or could potentially be a threat to you or your loved one, it is essential that you be proactive in protecting yourself. Mattress encasements greatly increase the chances of detecting bed bugs at an early stage before full on infestation. Due to the smooth slick surface of the mattress encasement, the bed bugs are exposed, and can easily be detected on the exterior surface-the plastic casing makes it virtually impossible for the bed bugs to penetrate the casing to reach the interior of the mattress.

Textile Armor has an incredible line of Mattress Encasements and protection. In addition to prevention against bed bugs, Textile Armor’s Mattress Encasements protection line also will aid in helping with allergies. If you are curious about the edification of Mattress Encasement protection, then you will want to check out this link on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KE2yS6rqsuM&feature=related

Let us know what you think, we appreciate your comments! We would especially like to hear from you if you have had any experience with Mattress Encasements. We look forward to hearing from you!

Welcome To Textile Armor!

Welcome to our website and our first blog for Textile Armor! My name is Julie Hadduck and I am the writer of this blog. I am so excited to partner with Textile Armor! Originally I am from California and have a Bachelors Degree in Interior Design. When I first met Mike (The owner and CEO of Textile Armor) I was incredible impressed with what a down to earth and good guy he is, he really is just the kind of man that you LIKE doing business with. I was even more impressed with the product line of Textile Armor. Having been a designer in Los Angeles, I have come across many fabric and textile protection products-when I discovered Textile Armor, I was literally blown away.

I believe that as a designer it is my job to be able to recommend with confidence to my clients a product that not only I believe in, but one that the company will also stand behind. I found that with Textile Armor. Their product line ranges from fabric protection to leather protection and even to glass, wood and vinyl protection and cleaner. What I was most impressed with was their warrantee and guarantee. I feel confident recommending their products because I know that their products are not only superior, but that the company stands behind them-there is no risk to me as the designer.

One of the tremendous values that I have found in being able to recommend a fabric protection product like Textile Armor, is that as a designer, it gives my clients a lot more options and choices for fixtures and furniture. They are no longer limited to leather because it is durable for the kids; they are now able to consider lovely fabric couches that previously had never been an option.

As this blog continues, we will discuss varies aspects of furniture care and industry secrets and tips. We truly hope that you will check back every week or so and leave a comment and let us know what you think; your opinion is greatly appreciated and valued!
